NC-08 Veterans Endorse Larry Kissell over Hayes

The Veterans Alliance for Security and Democracy (VETPAC) have endorsed Larry Kissell over Robin Hayes in North Carolina's 8th Congressional District.

"I'm the son of a veteran, so earning this endorsement means the world to me," said Kissell.

The Veterans' Alliance announcement came today on the 62nd anniversary of D-Day , when more than 100,000 Allied troops stormed the beaches of Normandy in northern France and turned the tide of World War II.

"I am so honored to be endorsed by the veterans of this nation to whom we owe so much, especially on this anniversary of D-Day. We've got to do a better job taking care of our veterans," said Kissell.

Those of you who truly understand this state know this is huge news. Congratulations to Larry Kissell.

Awesome news.

Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Truly.

Way to go Larry!

Nice, but...

Seems like a nice endorsement, but I'm not sure of its hugeness.

Durnit Ed...don't rain on my parade!

I know the group only endorses Dems..or to this point that's what has happened, but it's still pretty big. Yes, if it were a bipartisan group....or a typically conservative group it would be a bigger deal. Having a veteran's group on the resume is big in this district for the mere fact that it's a veteran's group.

They might not have the influence of the Swiftboat veterans....but...would an honest person really want them listed as a supporter? Naaahhhh.

I love a parade

I agree that having a credible veterans organization like this is helfpul, not least in the NC 8th, and it does show that Kissell continues to draw national interest.

But as you say, it's not like the endorsement represents some big break with tradition for them, this is the kind of guy they support.

They don't seem to have much money, either, although I have no idea if their current account is a relevant measure of their actual ability to help out financially, or if that even matters here.

I don't mean to rain on any parades, just to keep things in context. Kissell has a long hard campaign ahead of him.

I don't think the finances are any stronger than

the account on Open Secrets, if that's the site you're using. I only had time to do some brief checking with the FEC and I didn't find anything more.

I don't think they give much more than $1000 to most candidates they support.

It will be a tough five months, but Larry and his staffers have the desire and the energy. I met Larry and Steve(Communications Director) back in April. I met quite a few of the staffers tonight at a fundraiser here in Charlotte. My gut feeling is they are up to the challenge.
