Mel Watt Arrested Protesting Genocide in Darfur

Mel Watt and six other members of the Congressional Black Caucus were arrested protesting on the steps of Sudan's embassy in Washington.

Good for them.

So this is the "scoop" faux news

has been teasing about all night, acting like they've got some salacious "news." Well, good for Mel. He's impressive.

Yes.

Of course, none of our esteemed white Congress critters would bother to put themselves on the line for any such thing.

Nope, nary a one

and no Republicans either.

They paid a $50 fine and were on their way.

Hell Yes, Mel

Hell yes. I am mighty proud. What's going on in Darfur is an embarrassment to the citizens of any country with the power to step in.

This is one of those little badges of honor

among protestors and it's funny to think of Mel Watt being arrested. He's so......reasonable. But, he is also very passionate and he is so very smart. He's one of those people I feel it's an honor to vote for every time I pull the lever. I know that sounds hokey, but it's true. I feel very fortunate to have him as my Rep and now we're going to move to Lincoln County and I'm just too scared to look and see who will represent me. I fear it is snot-nosed McHenry.

Can't wait for your interview, SD

It's gonna be excellent.

I know....I've been upset with my delay in

getting the interview finished and now I have so many things to ask him! I'm glad I haven't been able to get it completed now.

Badge of honor

It reminds me that, when I asked David Price why he didn't go to Fayetteville to join the anti-war protests, he said members of Congress don't do that sort of thing. Sure they do, David. It's not a good feeling being arrested. But sometimes it's a great feeling to have been arrested.
