TILLIS NOT INVITED TO SPEAK AT RNC, SAYS CRAZY GUN COUPLE "EVERYDAY PEOPLE": Some of his fellow senators are speaking, portions of the convention were held not far from Tillis’ home in the Charlotte suburb of Cornelius, and he’s facing a close re-election campaign this fall against Democratic former state legislator Cal Cunningham. But Tillis said he has no hard feelings over not being given time to address an audience of conservatives around the country. He referenced some of the non-politicians who are speaking, like the St. Louis couple who made national news for drawing guns on protesters who came into their neighborhood, and said he’s glad the RNC is putting “everyday people” on screen and “not just a stream of politicians with all these prepared statements.”

GOVERNOR COOPER ALLOCATES $175 MILLION FOR RENT AND UTILITY RELIEF: The money will be split into three pots as follows: $94 million for eviction prevention and utility payments. The North Carolina Office of Recovery and Resiliency will distribute the money to community agencies around the state that will work directly with people in need on applying for and receiving the aid. $53 million for crisis response and housing stability. The federal Emergency Solutions Grant-Coronavirus Program, run through the state Department of Health and Human Services, is designed to help homeless families or those who face a more immediate risk of homelessness. $28 million for local government support. The Community Development Block Grant – Coronavirus funding will be administered by the state Department of Commerce and helps municipalities with fewer than 50,000 residents and counties with fewer than 200,000 residents help their residents pay rent and outstanding utility bills. The money also may be used to provide support for internet access, food distribution, coronavirus testing and diagnosis and employment training for health care workers.

DAVID LEWIS WOULD NOT SERVE TIME UNDER PENDING PLEA AGREEMENT: A former North Carolina state lawmaker who acknowledged a scheme to use campaign money to benefit his ailing farm is expected in federal court to discuss a plea agreement. Ex-Rep. David Lewis was the House Rules Committee chairman and played major roles in redistricting plans later declared unlawful gerrymanders. He entered an agreement with U.S. attorneys that will be reviewed Wednesday by a magistrate judge in Charlotte. Prosecutors say the Harnett County Republican made false statements to a bank in 2018 when he deposited $65,000 from his campaign committee into an account he controlled and used for his farm company. He also acknowledged failing to file a timely federal tax return for that year. The plea agreement says prosecutors will not seek active prison time for Lewis, who resigned his House seat last week when the plea became public. He had previously decided not to seek reelection in November.

IN ORWELLIAN IRONY, TRUMP VIOLATES HATCH ACT BY USING NATURALIZATION CEREMONY FOR POLITICAL PURPOSES: The reason that event was hosted at the White House is also the reason we can convey in such detail what actually happened. That ceremony, the culmination of five long journeys toward achieving recognition as American citizens, happened in the White House quite obviously so that it could be filmed and incorporated into Trump’s reelection effort. The legitimate achievements of those five people was something that, for Wolf and Trump, became an opportunity to score political points. “We just witnessed President Trump and DHS official Chad Wolf violate a criminal Hatch Act provision that prohibits anyone employed in ‘an administrative position’ from using his official authority to affect the nomination or election of any Presidential candidate,” Kathleen Clark, government ethics expert at the Washington University School of Law in St. Louis told The Post’s Michelle Lee and Josh Dawsey on Tuesday. “Breathtaking in their contempt for the law.” Trump had the audacity to tell the life story of and pose for a photograph with an immigrant from Ghana. During an Oval Office discussion about immigration in early 2018, Trump rejected the idea that people from Haiti, El Salvador or African countries should receive special protections. “Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” he asked.

UNKNOWN GUNMEN SHOOT PROTESTERS IN KENOSHA WISCONSIN, TWO DEAD SO FAR: Three people were shot early Wednesday, two fatally, law enforcement officials said, during a chaotic night of demonstrations over the shooting of Jacob Blake, a Black resident whose children were nearby as their father was shot this week by a white police officer. Many protesters left the area, but others lingered and walked to a gas station several blocks away. There, a group of men with guns stood outside, promising to protect the property and verbally sparring with the arriving protesters. As the night stretched on, the gas station became a tense gathering spot, with bystanders watching from parked cars and people milling around in the street, arguing and occasionally shoving each other. Police officers had crept closer to the gas station in armored trucks, urging the people who were still there to go home. After midnight, shots were fired outside the gas station. Three people were struck, Sheriff David Beth said in an interview. The Kenosha Police Department said in a statement that there were two fatalities, and that one person had been taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. Sheriff Beth said that the investigation was focused on the group of men with guns outside the gas station, and that investigators were scouring video taken just before the shooting. In one video, the men are shouting at each other, clutching their guns and occasionally pulling each other away to defuse the conflict. “I’ve had people saying, ‘Why don’t you deputize citizens?’” he said. “This is why you don’t deputize citizens with guns to protect Kenosha.”

Do you see the connection

between the first and last stories? That's right, guns. A couple that brandished weapons (including an AR-15) at protesters as they marched past their house is lauded by the President and given a national platform to speak at the RNC, while another group takes the next obvious step and shoots protesters.

Just one more in a long list of reasons why Trump is not qualified to be President. Instead of working to solve such problems and decrease the danger, he exacerbates them and increases the danger.

The crazy St. Louis gun couple

If you really want to get an idea of what this couple of like - as if pointing guns at BLM protestors wasn't enough - read this piece, which outlines their treatment of a synagogue next door to their home.

In particular, this tidbit will probably tell you everything you need to know about why they're so hostile to this synagogue.

"In 2014, during protests over the police killing of Micahel Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, Talve was the most outspoken Jewish religious leader at the scene.

In 2017 Talve’s synagogue opened its doors to provide refuge for protesters when a march against police violence itself turned violent.

At the time, a trending Twitter hashtag called on the police to #GasTheSynagogue."

I'm sending the synagogue a donation, simply because I feel the need to support their work in the face of the hatred and bigotry right next door to them. Here's their website.

Mark Walker replacing Falwell?

These people are idiots.
