Taylor's own kind turning against him

This is being repeated in Saturday morning funnies. It belongs here because what could be funnier than "conservative cannibalism" along with some great snark? SD

In two rare cases of conservative cannibalism, it seems Taylor's free ride nears it's end.

First, his primary opponent laid into him pretty badly over "inconsistencies" in his FEC filings.

And this week, a conservative North Carolina webnews organization has posted the second of two articles blasting away with rumor and speculation that's music to my ears.

House Democrats to Hold Caucus in Next Two Weeks

At some point in the next two weeks the Democrats in Raleigh will hold a caucus to discuss the issues surrounding Speaker Jim Black. Four Democrats have called for Black to either resign his post or step down from his leadership position.

The caucus is not out of the ordinary. Julie Robinson, Black's Communications Director, said it is commonly held before every session. However, this caucus will probably be a little more heated than those held in the past.

The real question is below the fold

You Are The North Carolina Supreme Court Justice

The NC Supreme Court ruled today that a Greensboro man's chemotherapy wasn't covered by medicaid because he was an illegal immigrant and because his medical condition wasn't an emergency. Here's a fun assignment for this weekend: See if you can figure out whether the Supreme Court made the right decision.

Below the fold you'll find the statute that they were interpreting, followed by the court's full (and not ver long at all) opinion. Post your answers in the comments. For extra credit, explain whether the "right" result is morally right or not.

The President CANNOT Leak a Secret

It turns out that neither Bush or Cheney can leak classified secrets. Here's why: Scott McClellan, press secretary, explained today that Bush and Cheney declassified secrets just before revealing them to selected journalists. So they're not secrets, you see, and therefore they can't be what we uninformed people call "leaks."

Now we know why Cheney has been claiming the power to unilaterally and personally declassify anything they want.

WPTF: NOT in the public interest

RALEIGH -- BlueNC, the new website for progressive action in North Carolina, called today on WPTF-AM in Raleigh to cancel its contract with Rush Limbaugh for his continuing use of racial slurs to prop up his sagging reputation.

"I'm sure the station could care less about blacks," says Anglico, one of the website's regular writers. "It's hard to imagine they have any black listeners at all. But what kind of example are they setting when they allow programming that calls the woman who was raped by Duke lacrosse players a whore?"

According to Media Matters, a national non-profit that tracks media organization . . .

Conservatives call blacks HOs and Ghetto Sluts

In perhaps one of the most immoral acts that I have ever heard, Al Franken just played a clip of Rush Limbaugh calling the Duke Lacrosse rape victim a Ho.

You can hear the clip here.

From Media Matters:

Limbaugh's made the comment about a recent incident in Durham, North Carolina, in which an exotic dancer was allegedly raped by three members of the Duke lacrosse team. The incident has invoked further controversy because the victim, an African-American, has alleged that her attackers used racial epithets. Prompted by another caller to apologize for his words, Limbaugh said that he had made the statement because he was "running on fumes today," and called it a "terrible slip of the tongue." But he then added that there are "some inconsistencies" in the case and rephrased his apology, telling the second caller, "I regret that you heard me say it."
