Dole comes out of hiding and starts lying right off the bat - media turns a blind eye.

The media has given Elizabeth Dole a pass. She has been hidden from the voters of North Carolina. Her campaign site - still no list of events. Her Senate site - no updated events since July. Why is Elizabeth Dole, who is losing to Kay Hagan, hiding from the voters?

Google searches reveal that Bob Dole has been campaigning all over North Carolina for his wife, but that she has been largely cloistered.

John and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Yesterday was a bad day for the John McCain campaign. The stock market is crashing at least in part because of deregulation he supports used to support (man, his flips are faster than his flops). So, what do his economic advisers have to say? Remember, these are his new economic advisers, his old one said:

What did his new ones have to say?

Where is Elizabeth Dole and why isn't the media asking the same question?

The other day an obvious question popped into my head.

Where's Elizabeth Dole?

Yes, I know she has lived outside North Carolina for the last half-century, but where are her visits?

Yes, I know she almost never visited the state over the last six years, instead sending staff members to "her" events.

But, this is an election year. Ole' Liddy Dole has to be out there shaking hands, kissing babies, chatting up farmers, rallying the base. Right?

The answer appears to be, No.

What does September 11th, 2008 mean to you?

To me, there are two emotions tied into this day. The first, is the sad remembrance of what happened. The feeling of shock and dismay, or outright horror at watching what was happening. My wife was driven into early labor by what happened that day and much of our next week was spent in the NICU. So, I missed much of the aftermath of what had happened. We came out of the hospital and eventually awoke to a much different world.

My second feeling is more immediate, it is one of anger. Osama bin Laden, the Assassin responsible for 3,000 dead on American soil, still walks free. We have had seven long years to bring him to justice - and we have not.

Judge tells Palin to stop 'disparaging' State Trooper over personal issues

In Newsweek, Troopergate gets more interesting. We all know that Sarah Palin fired and rehired a librarian who wouldn't ban books. But, I don't think we now just how bad her attack was on Alaska State Trooper Michael Wooten, and what the fallout was. Wooten was going through 'a bitter separation and divorce from Palin's sister Molly' - and Palin was trying to ruin his career over it.

Court records obtained by NEWSWEEK show that during the course of divorce hearings three years ago, Judge John Suddock heard testimony from an official of the Alaska State Troopers' union about how Sarah Palin—then a private citizen—and members of her family, including her father and daughter, lodged up to a dozen complaints against Wooten with the state police. The union official told the judge that he had never before been asked to appear as a divorce-case witness, that the union believed family complaints against Wooten were "not job-related," and that Wooten was being "harassed" by Palin and other family members.
